Family Law

Divorce

It can be overwhelming to deal with the legal issues of a divorce or legal separation when a family is breaking apart. I can help you navigate your divorce or legal separation with a calm and level head, especially when emotions run high. My goal is to ensure that my clients get an equitable division of the marital assets; structure a fair division of the debts; and ensure that your children are protected in your custody arrangements. I will also evaluate your case to determine if spousal support (alimony) is an option as well.

Most clients prefer to avoid going to court if possible, and there are many options for resolving your divorce and custody issues outside of the courtroom. I use mediation and joint settlement conferences to resolve these issues outside of the courtroom and in a less stressful manner for my clients. However, if settlement negotiations fail and a trial is necessary, I will aggressively represent your interests and present your case in the best possible manner to the Court.

Custody

We all want what is best for our children, and custody issues can certainly be traumatic on both children and parents. I will assist you with setting up your initial child custody and visitation agreements as a result of your divorce or custody action. However, there are times when these agreements need to be renegotiated. If work schedules change or one parent relocates to another state, custody and visitation schedules can and should be revised to reflect the change in the parents’ situation. Custody arrangements may also need to be revised if a parent becomes ill or is otherwise unable to properly care for the children. Contact me today to learn how I can help ensure that you and your children are protected.

Child Support

An award of child support can be vitally important to your financial wellbeing, no matter if you are the parent paying or receiving support. It is critically important that your child support be set up correctly at the beginning of your case. Over the years, your child support may need to be modified due to changes in salary or employment; changes in health insurance costs; or changes in daycare costs. Having your child support reviewed periodically will help to ensure that you are not paying or receiving the wrong amount. Contact me today for a free child support review.
